Rockchip recently released its investor relations activity records, revealing that the company received 83 institutional investors in September, including Freshwater Spring, Guosen Securities, and CITIC Securities. The core focus was on edge AI chip deployment progress and the mass production status of the RK182X coprocessor. According to the survey, the RK182X series has already covered five major scenarios: office, home, robotics, industrial edge computing, and automotive, with terminal products continuously being released and entering mass production.
The RK182X is Rockchip’s first 3D-stacked architecture edge AI coprocessor, launched in Q3 2025, which breaks through traditional memory wall bottlenecks by vertically integrating DRAM and NPU. In robotics applications, the RK182X forms a “SoC + Coprocessor” decoupled big-brain/small-brain architecture with the main control chip. The main chip handles real-time tasks such as motion control, while the coprocessor manages perception, decision-making, and voice interaction, achieving contention-free computing resources, flexible deployment, and independent iteration.
In industrial and edge computing fields, the RK182X has been applied to AI Boxes, industrial PCs, and edge servers, serving industrial vision, quality inspection, energy storage, power systems, and traffic video analysis. In automotive applications, the RK3588+RK1828-based AI BOX solution enables in-vehicle voice, vision, and sensor local fusion interaction, and has secured multiple design wins with ongoing customer onboarding.
Notably, the AI Agent hardware Violoop launched on Kickstarter adopts an RK3576 main control + RK1828 coprocessor solution, with the RK1828 providing 20 TOPS NPU computing power for local large model inference, enabling local screen reading comprehension and cross-application execution capabilities. Rockchip stated that as the industry trend of edge AI moving from cloud to terminal accelerates, the company’s “SoC + Coprocessor” dual-track strategy has entered the harvest period.
