Rockchip’s automotive-grade RK-M series SoCs have recently entered volume production across multiple Chinese OEMs. The flagship RK3588M smart cockpit solution now powers production models including the GAC Hyptec GT Climbing Edition (rolled off the line in December 2025), and previously won the “2024 China Automotive Chip Innovation Award” from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Automotive electronics is becoming Rockchip’s second growth curve after AIoT.
In terms of specifications, the RK3588M is built on an 8nm process with an octa-core CPU (4x Cortex-A76 + 4x Cortex-A55) delivering 100K DMIPS, plus a built-in 6-TOPS NPU. Certified to the AEC-Q100 automotive standard, it supports cockpit domain-controller designs with up to seven displays and sixteen cameras, covering multi-screen interaction, cockpit-parking integration and surround-view parking.
Around the smart cockpit, Rockchip has built a complete automotive product matrix: the RK3358M for instrument clusters, RK3568M and RK3576M for mid-to-high-end cockpits, RK3308M in-car audio SoCs, RK2118/RK2116 automotive audio chips (already adopted by multiple car brands and international names), and RK806M/RK809M automotive power management ICs – spanning cockpit computing, audio and power management.
From an industry perspective, AEC-Q100 certification, long-term supply commitments and reliability validation under extreme temperatures have long formed a high entry barrier for embedded SoC vendors. Rockchip’s successful expansion from consumer/industrial AIoT into the automotive market shows that domestic ARM SoC architectures and ecosystems can stand up to the most demanding scenarios. For embedded board and system makers, the maturity of automotive-grade chips means design philosophies such as wide-temperature operation, vibration resistance and multi-display output are rapidly extending into broader industrial products.
Junyi Microelectronics’ vehicle & transportation solutions have long focused on in-vehicle displays and transportation terminals, featuring vibration-resistant, wide-temperature designs for reliable long-run operation. We closely follow the progress of Rockchip’s automotive-grade ecosystem and are evaluating automotive platforms for our vehicle and transportation products to offer customers more reliable computing options.
