MYIR Launches Its Third SMARC 2.2 Core Board MYC-JS8MPQ: Powered by the NXP i.MX 8M Plus, a 2.3 TOPS NPU Rounds Out Mid-Tier Edge AI Computing

2026-10-27 Industry Insights

Another major player joins the embedded board market. According to MYIR’s column on 21ic, MYIR’s third SMARC 2.2-compliant core board, the MYC-JS8MPQ, is officially on the market, built on the NXP i.MX 8M Plus application processor and offering another standardized computing option for industrial automation, edge AI gateways and similar scenarios.

In terms of platform specifications, the i.MX 8M Plus is NXP’s first application processor with an integrated dedicated NPU: built on a 14nm FinFET process, it combines a heterogeneous multicore architecture of 4x Cortex-A53 @ 1.8GHz plus Cortex-M7 @ 800MHz with a built-in 2.3 TOPS NPU. The A-cores handle Linux applications and AI inference scheduling while the M-core takes on real-time control — one chip covering both intelligence and real-time needs, which is the fundamental reason this platform has kept winning in industrial and edge AI applications since its launch.

From the perspective of the industry landscape, the MYC-JS8MPQ further confirms the multi-SoC competition pattern of the embedded board market: Allwinner T736, Rockchip RK3576 and NXP i.MX 8M Plus now compete on the same standardized track, while specifications such as SMARC 2.2 have made one carrier board serving multiple platforms an industry consensus. For terminal manufacturers, the richer the platform choices, the greater the supply-chain flexibility and scenario adaptation space; the industrial real-time capability and long-lifecycle genes of the NXP route also form a clear complement to domestic ARM platforms.

Junyi Microelectronics is likewise deeply committed to the standardized core board route, with the J-3568/J-3576/J-3588 core boards covering an AIoT computing gradient from entry level to flagship. In an era of multi-platform competition, Junyi insists on matching the platform to the scenario: vision inference, multi-channel I/O, wide-temperature industrial control — different needs can all find a suitable choice within the Junyi core board matrix, backed by carrier-board customization and long-term supply guarantees for customer projects.
