Agora and Rockchip recently jointly released a parallel control solution for all categories of robots. The solution deeply integrates Rockchip’s Rockit audio-video development framework, achieving end-to-end latency stably below 200ms under 4G/5G and Wi-Fi networks, with a network latency median of only 76ms. It provides standardized, highly reliable, out-of-the-box remote control and real-time video transmission capabilities for robots in home companionship, agriculture, industry, and lawn mowing scenarios.
The solution uses Rockchip’s RK3588 and RK3576 as hardware platforms. The RK3588 flagship chip integrates an octa-core CPU and 6 TOPS self-developed NPU, supporting 8K codec, and can simultaneously process visual SLAM and HD video encoding. The RK3576 adopts a heterogeneous multi-core architecture, achieving an excellent balance between millisecond-level real-time control and low power consumption. From Unitree Technology and DeepRobotics to Ecovacs and Geek+, mainstream robot manufacturers have mostly chosen Rockchip platforms for their core controllers.
At the framework level, Agora and Rockit’s media pipeline are deeply connected, with full hardware acceleration for audio-video acquisition, encoding, transmission, and rendering. This bypasses the additional overhead and latency caused by layer-by-layer copying and multiple format conversions in traditional solutions. Test data shows that under 80% audio-video packet loss, the picture remains continuous and remote control is uninterrupted.
Industry data shows that China’s service robot production continues to grow rapidly, with segments such as lawn mowing robots and quadruped robots experiencing explosive growth of over 100% or even 200%. Parallel control is becoming a core necessity for the scaled deployment of the robotics industry.
