Hygon Unveils Its First Embedded Industrial-Control CPU, the 1000 Series, Extending Domestic Computing to the Edge

2026-10-07 Industry Insights

On September 22, Hygon Information Technology released its first embedded industrial-control chip, the 1000 Series CPU, extending its technology portfolio from servers and data centers to edge devices and bringing domestic computing power into broader contact with the physical world.

Embedded processors live inside all kinds of real-world equipment: industrial controllers, energy terminals, transportation facilities, industrial robots and edge gateways, where they handle sensing, computing and control locally. They are both the interface between digital systems and the physical world and a key carrier of computing power moving downstream.

Unlike earlier terminals that only collected data and executed commands, capabilities such as image recognition, real-time analysis and local decision-making are becoming standard, requiring devices to process far more data within tighter time windows. Driven by response time, data security and bandwidth cost, part of the computing workload is shifting to the edge.

According to industry estimates, global edge-computing spending is expected to grow from USD 261 billion in 2025 to USD 3.8 trillion by 2028, while China’s edge-computing hardware market is projected to expand from USD 7.4 billion to USD 13.2 billion over the same period. Hygon’s entry into the embedded industrial-control segment comes right as edge demand enters a rapid growth window.
