2026 World IoT Expo Opens in Wuxi: Ten IoT Trends Released and Jiangsu’s 6G Optical-Bearing Laboratory Launched

2026-11-05 Industry Insights

On October 31, the 2026 World IoT Expo opened in Wuxi, Jiangsu, under the theme “All Things Connected, Co-creating the Future.” At the opening ceremony, the “2026 IoT Top 10 Trend Insights” and the “Smart IoT Technology and Industry Development Report” were released; awards were presented for the “2026 IoT Top 10 New Technologies, Applications and Models”; and Jiangsu’s “6G Communication Optical Bearing Key Laboratory (preparatory)” and the National SME Public Service Demonstration Base (China IoT International Innovation Park) were inaugurated. The construction of Wuxi National AI Industry Innovation Application Pilot Zone was also kicked off on site. The expo also includes exhibitions and industry matchmaking activities.

Technology context

This edition centers on “connected everything,” with IoT and 6G optical bearing advancing side by side, showing how the connectivity infrastructure is accelerating toward a fully connected, intelligent world. The trend report and the industry report point to where end-side intelligence, edge computing and connectivity are heading, while the 6G optical-bearer laboratory provides a forward-looking foundation for lower latency and larger bandwidth in future IoT.

From an industry perspective…

The IoT is moving from “connected things” to “intelligent everything,” with cloud-edge-device collaboration as a shared theme. Edge computing gateways and edge boxes have grown in importance as the compute carriers of the connected world. As both AI compute and 6G accelerate, connectivity infrastructure and computing infrastructure must evolve together: the data of billions of devices needs to be processed close to the edge before it can truly become value.

Junyi Microelectronics business relevance

Junyi Microelectronics’ 5G-EDGE-3399Pro and AI-BOX-3588 edge hosts, K-series edge intelligent boards and the IPC-i5-1235U industrial PC are precisely the edge compute nodes for “IoT plus AI” deployments. They can serve field acquisition, local inference and cloud upload in smart parks, production lines and energy scenarios, providing a mature foundation for the edge in the era of connected intelligence.
