On November 2 (after US market close), onsemi (ON.US) reported its 2026 third-quarter results. Revenue was US$1.722 billion, up 11% year over year and 7% quarter over quarter, US$22 million above the midpoint of its own guidance and above the analyst expectation of about US$1.71 billion. Non-GAAP gross margin was 41.2%, up 190 basis points sequentially for a fifth consecutive quarter of expansion; non-GAAP operating margin was 23.2%; and non-GAAP diluted EPS was US$0.90, up 43% year over year.
In the ensuing conference call, the CEO stressed that AI data center is a key growth engine, with that segment’s revenue expected to double again next year, while clarifying that the company is not de-emphasizing its automotive business. Against system-level challenges such as rising AI rack power, GWh-scale energy storage and automotive Ethernet moving from backbones to more edge nodes, onsemi’s innovation is shifting from single-device performance toward higher-efficiency, higher-integration, deeper system-level optimization.
Technology and product details
Centered on gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors plus system-level power solutions, onsemi focuses on delivering power efficiently and data accurately with fewer parts, smaller footprints and shorter development cycles, covering AI data centers, energy storage, EV powertrains and connected vehicles, and has introduced new embedded power platform architectures.
Why an industry perspective…
The AI boom is not only driving compute and memory, but also redefining power. From data centers to edge devices, from storage to automotive electrification, the energy efficiency, power density and reliable delivery of power devices have become the other major battlefield of AI infrastructure. As power players ramp up investment in power semiconductors, a “compute plus power” dual-engine landscape is emerging, making supply-chain stability and cost more important than ever.
Junyi Microelectronics business relevance
In products such as the 5G-EDGE-3399Pro/AI-BOX-3588 edge computing hosts, the IPC-i5-1235U industrial PC and touch panel PCs, Junyi Microelectronics places strict requirements on power stability, wide-temperature operation and high reliability. Choosing high-efficiency, highly integrated power devices and dependable power solutions, together with 24/7 operation, is a key to long-term stability for edge AI hosts in complex industrial environments.
